The Chinese company FunPlus will manage the League of Legends South East Asia Tour for the 2019 season
FunPlus Esports will manage the League-Legends (LoL) Tour of Southeast Asia for the spring and summer divisions of 2019. The South East Asian Tour is the heart of the Southeast Asian professional LoL scene, as the tournament is the only way for the region’s teams to qualify for the mid-season Invitational and the world championship. The competitive region includes Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.
Founded in 2018, the South East Asia Tour replaced the previous Garena Premier League, which began in 2012 as LoL’s first professional league. FunPlus also has its own League of Legends team that competes in China.
The total prize money of the Tour will be $ 380,000 USD and will take place in Vietnam and Taiwan in May. The winner of the SEA Tour Spring Division will qualify for that event. Meanwhile, the LoL World Championship 2019 will be hosted in Paris, France, this year and the winner of the SEA summer division will qualify for the end of season tournament.
