WESA (World Esports Association), ESL and Occitane Esports have announced that the CS: GO Pro League finals will be held in Montpellier, in the south of France, from 21 to 23 June 2019
The first major ESL export event in France since it co-founded Occitanie Esports in 2018.
“Occitane Esports was founded in 2018 by ESL, Futurolan, Occitanie Event. According to ESL, the first Occitanie Esports event attracted over 7,000 participants and 800 players for its various LAN tournaments. “
“WESA instead, is the result of joint efforts between ESL and professional team organizations such as Fnatic, OpTic Gaming and mousesports. Established in 2016, the group aims to standardize the practices of export competition through regulations, programming and representation of players as in the traditional sports sector ”.
In 2017, WESA has promulgated a new set of regulations that prohibit any person or entity from owning or controlling multiple teams or organizations participating in WESA sanctioned events. The rules also included penalties and a code of conduct for players.
The CS: GO Pro League finals will present 16 teams from Europe, America and Asia-Pacific, all competing for a total prize pool of US $ 750,000 USD.
