T1 Entertainment and Sports, the new venture of SK Telecom and Comcast Spectacor, have joined forces with the FACEIT game platform / event organizer to launch their first Apex Legends Invitational
FACEIT and T1 have partnered to host Apex Legends Invitational on March 30th. Twenty teams, each led by a famous streamer, will compete for a prize pool of $ 25,000 live on Twitch.
Apex Legends was launched in February and quickly became one of the most watched games on the online streaming channel.
The Apex Legends Invitational will be broadcast live on May 30 on the T1 and FACEIT Twitch channels. A team will pass directly from FACEIT Studios in Santa Monica, California, and all players will participate for a prize pool of $ 25,000.
“Apex Legends is one of the most popular games in the world right now,” said Michele Attisani, co-founder and CBO of FACEIT in a statement. “The royal genre of the battle has really turned the world of video games on and we are excited to continue playing a role in the development of the competitive community.”
Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, Apex Legends is a free spin-off from the Titanfall series. The battle game was launched in February with a string of “Apex Legends Partners” – top Twitcher including Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek, Jack “CouRage” Dunlop and Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm.
On its first day, Apex Legends became the most watched game on Twitch with 4.62 million hours seen, compared to League of Legends and Fortnite at 2.85 M and 2.78 M, respectively.
Apex Legends Season 1 began on Tuesday with the first Battle Pass in the game, allowing players to earn items like weapon skins. Some thematic articles from Season 1 can also be earned without paying a fee.
