The biggest esport tournament in Italy is back: The ESL Vodafone Championship will start on May 6th with the regular season ending in July with the finals for the Italian champion title
The Italian league of esports re-opens its doors, renewing the partnership with Vodafone to strengthen the market: from May the best players and teams of Italy will begin to compete in the playoffs that will lead – at the end of the path – to contend for the title of Italian champion.
The 3 games selected this year are: League of Legends, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Clash Royale.
At the start of the regular season there will be 10 teams for LOL, 10 teams for CSGO and 10 players for Clash Royale who will compete to win a total prize money of € 25,000.
The regular season is an Italian round where all the participants challenge each opponent for a total of 9 games: the four teams or players who rank in the first 4 positions enter the playoffs (not foreseen for Clash Royale) while the four teams or last players in the standings, relegated to Serie B. During the playoff week the two teams that will enter the national finals will be decreed.
During the championship it will be possible to watch live streaming of some matches, from Monday to Thursday at 20:00 on the twitch.tv/esl_it channel and with clips, news highlights, video teasers on the ESL Pro portal, as well as guaranteed coverage on the channels of Vodafone.
“Today, esports are one of the phenomena with the highest international growth rates and involve millions of enthusiasts all over the world,” says Matteo Stroscio, Product Owner Mass Market of Vodafone Italia. The renewal of the partnership allows Vodafone and ESL to pool their know-how to strengthen the video game market in Italy. Our goal is to guarantee gamers the best possible gaming experience by offering them all the quality of the Vodafone network with the most powerful minimum latency connection, a fundamental requirement for every match. “
“The renewal of the partnership with Vodafone is a source of great pride for us,” said Daniel Schmidhofer, CEO of ESL Italy. “The perfect mix of hardcore games with community focused on competitive gaming, and the presence for the second consecutive year of a mobile mass market game like Clash Royale, represent the right mix to continue to increase visibility on the esport movement in Italy, of where Progaming has been a forerunner and guide at the same time. We are proud to continue on this path and we thank our partners Vodafone, Intel and PaySafeCard who will accompany us during the year ”.
The wait is over and everything is now ready to experience the adventures and emotions that only the ESL Vodafone Championship is capable of giving!
