Overwatch announces the Overwatch League Grand finals to be held at the Wells Fargo Center, in Philadelphia
The Overwatch League (OWL) season is halfway through, with the Phase Two finals scheduled for this weekend.
Blizzard Entertainment has announced that the big final event will be held in Philadelphia, at the Wells Fargo Center, on September 29th and will have a prize pool of $ 1.7 million.
To face each other for the finals, they will be the two best teams in the world, with the winning team awarded $ 1.1 million and the runner-up $ 600 thousand. The playoffs of the season will include 12 of the 20 total teams in the league; the two winners of the division, the next four best teams for records and two qualifiers for a play-in tournament.
The event will be streamed live exclusively on Twitch (except in China) and also broadcast on the ABC television network. Other global services that the Grand Finals will broadcast will be TSN in Canada; Zhanqi, NetEase CC, Bilibili and Huya in China; Mediawan in France; Sport1 in Germany; and Eterra TV in Russia. The event will also be broadcast on the ESPN app and on Overwatch.com.
Tickets will go on sale on June 7th. Blizzard has stated that more details will be made available as the event approaches.
