FACEIT has officially announced the creation of FACEIT Pro: Apex Legends, a series of tournaments with a $ 50K prize pool
The series will include eight online events and will award a total of $ 50,000.
The first event will take place on May 31, with 16 teams competing for part of the prize pool.
FACEIT has already announced 14 of the participating teams and they are all well-known organizations: 100 Thieves, Counter Logic, G2 Esport, Cloud9 Dignitas, Fnatic, Gen.G Esports, Misfits, NRG Esports, T1, Immortals, Team Liquid and Team SoloMid. Two other teams will be added through a qualifying tournament.
T1 and FACEIT previously collaborated for an Apex Legends Invitational event on March 30th, which saw the participation of 20 teams, each led by a popular streamer, for a share of $ 25,000.
Apex Legends was launched in early February and was an immediate success, attracting more than 50 million players in the first month and briefly overcoming Fortnite as the most watched game on Twitch.
The initial wave of interest was fostered by an aggressive marketing drive by EA, which paid the best influencers like Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek to spread the game during the first days of release.
However, Apex Legends was unable to sustain its strong departure on several fronts.
EA plans to release Apex Legends on mobile devices and will outline its future content plans for the game in its EA Play event in Los Angeles on June 8-9.
