Gamescom, the largest fair for games and sports, is about to expand in Asia, with the launch of Gamescom Asia.
The Singapore inaugural event, the Singapore Event, will take place from 15 to 18 October 2020, through a partnership between Koelnmesse and the Singapore Tourism Board.
The Asian fair will present a 2-day industry conference, a 3-day trade and a public exhibition, with sporting events and a showcase of technological innovations on games. Gamestart, which runs the largest convention in Singapore, will be a partner in Gamescom Asia and will look for a new location in the Asia region for its event.
Mathias Kuepper, managing director of Koelnmesse Singapore, said that “over 30,000 participants are expected for the first Gamescom Asia, including gaming industry professionals”.
Started in 2009, Gamescom has become the largest gaming event in the world of its kind. The previous edition registered 370,000 participants, with 70% of the 1,037 exhibitors from abroad coming from 56 countries. The event is sponsored and organized jointly by the German Games Industry Association and has included several eSports competitions under the ESL Arena brand
