Riot Games‘ DACH League of Legends tournament series, Premier Tour, has partnered with health insurance company BARMER
Acting as the competition’s official health partner, BARMER aims to promote good mental and physical health to players and fans
The partnership is set to last through 2020 and won’t be the last commitment from the health insurance company in esports. This is not the first instance of BARMER in the industry, however, having already sponsored the German FIFA 20 eSoccer-League earlier this month.
The German-speaking league is the start of the path for professional players and culminates with the European Masters tournament, which gathers all the best teams of European regional leagues. The higher league, LEC, is located in Berlin. That makes it very close to the DACH league.
The deal announcement outlines: “The BARMER wants to promote not only the German-speaking Esport, but passionate players, fans and Esport athletes in health issues as a reliable partner and adviser to the side. Of course, physical and mental fitness is extremely important for performance in the gap. The cooperation of the Premier Tour with the insurer ensures that this aspect of the esport is not neglected.”
Going into 2020, the Premier Tour will be moving away from its tournament structure and is set to be built into a league. Riot Games has named agencies Freaks 4U Gaming and Lagardère Sports as partners ahead the transition.
