UBEAT, the MEDIARPO Group’s multiplatform entertainment service for new audiences, is celebrating its third anniversary in style.
So far this year, ubeat.tv has accumulated more than six million unique users, three times the amount for the same period in 2020, while the television channel continues its expansion, adding to Tigo’s offer in Central America and all this during the same year it launched UBEAT Premium and expanded its content offer.
UBEAT was launched by the MEDIAPRO Group, one of Europe’s leaders in the audiovisual sector, in 2018 in a dual format. On the one hand, a 24/7 linear television channel available from the principal operators in Spain and Latin America and also, an OTT (ubeat.tv and applications for Android and iOS mobile devices), featuring over 30 entertainment formats tailored to the new generations of consumers with more than 4,000 hours of original and exclusive digital content including eSports, gaming, and entertainment.
Meanwhile, UBEAT’s audience just keeps on growing, boasting more than 500,000 unique users currently consuming content on ubeat.tv every month, while the OTT has registered 12 million reproductions over the past 11 months alone.
“2021 is proving to be an excellent year for UBEAT. We’re delighted with all we have achieved this year and we’re celebrating our third birthday to the backdrop of the best audience figures we’ve ever had. On top of that, we hope to continue growing next year, expanding into new territories, delivering fresh content, and working with new talent”, said Marta Ruiz de Gauna, managar of UBEAT.
New formats
UBEAT’s growth is based on the success of other classic multiplatform formats including “Hoy No Se Sale”, presented by Cristinini and Bruno Por Feliu; “Buyeando”, helmed by content creators Xbuyer and MiniBuyer; or “UBEAT Crew”, a ‘mobile first’ format featuring the most popular Internet talent in Spain and Latin America (Widler, Arta, Sieteex, Pol Gise, Robleis, Viole Franco, etc.), as well as thanks to the successful release of programs this year, such as “Chinder”, a dating show with Dakota Tárraga and Mahi Masegosa at the helm; and “En dos palabras”, an in-depth interview program hosted by Invert and Dtoke featuring freestyle stars from Spain and Argentina such as Sara Socas, Chuty, Gazir and Stuart.
But they haven’t been resting on their laurels and UBEAT has continued to innovate this year with the exclusive broadcast in Spanish of LCK, the Korean League of Legends tournament; the broadcast of the qualifying street skateboarding world championship for the Tokyo Games held in Rome, and especially with the premiere broadcast of the USN World Summer Cup, a new international freestyle competition which brings together the top 20 MCs over the month of July from Spain and Latin America broadcast exclusively worldwide on UBEAT in pay per view mode.
All the while UBEAT has continued to add fresh features to the platform and also launched UBEAT Premium, where for €2.99 per month users can enjoy access to exclusive content and additional exclusive features, among other advantages, such as ad-free ubeat.tv, all of which contributed to UBEAT appearing as a finalist at this year’s IBC2021 Innovation Awards for growth and technological evolution.
Greater distribution
In other areas, the UBEAT television channel has continued to expand distribution in recent months and as such, viewers can currently enjoy UBEAT from the principal pay TV operators in Spain (Movistar, Orange, Telecable, Euskaltel, R, Virgin telco, TV Player and Deion Comunicaciones) and in Latin America, where in addition to Sky and Totalplay, UBEAT has been progressively joining Tigo’s offer in recent months in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Panama.
